    Date: July 25, 2026 | Reading time: 2 minutes.

    Context:
I began my onboarding process by reading the official translator’s manual to understand how to collaborate with the local team in Costa Rica (es_CR).

    Procedure:

I created my official account on WordPress.org.

I joined the “Making WordPress” Slack channel to access the community.

I explored the translate.wordpress.org platform and found the dashboard for my country.

    Challenges:
When reviewing the platform, I saw that Costa Rica’s progress bar was almost at 100% and thought there was nothing left to translate. I later discovered that the main and ongoing work is in the Plugins and Themes sections, not just in the main system

    Lessons Learned:
I understood the importance of following the official “es_CR” glossary and the community’s style guidelines, since the goal isn’t to translate literally, but to maintain consistency for all users.

    Reflection:
I’ve completed the account setup phase and understand the site’s structure. I’m now ready to look for a specific project and start translating.

    Date: July 20, 2026 | Reading time: 2 minutes.

Hi, I’m Sebastián Rojas Vargas, a systems engineering student from Costa Rica. I’m currently focusing on learning about data engineering. I’m working on the WPCredits project as part of a university requirement, and I chose the Polyglots team to contribute to the open-source community

For this project, my goal is to help translate and adapt the platform. This aligns perfectly with my personal goals, as I am currently working to improve my technical English skills. I hope to gain a thorough understanding of how the collaborative translation system works and to provide real value to Spanish-speaking WordPress users

    Challenges:
Since this is my first post and my first official interaction with the community, the main challenge has been getting familiar with the structure of the WPCredits project and figuring out where to start.

    Lessons Learned:
I learned how to structure a progress log and how the WordPress volunteer contributor ecosystem is organized.

    Reflection:
I’m interested in learning how WordPress works, over the next few days I’ll continue learning and making progress toward the project’s goals.
