Date: July 25, 2026 | Reading time: 2 minutes.
Context:
I began my onboarding process by reading the official translator’s manual to understand how to collaborate with the local team in Costa Rica (es_CR).
Procedure:
I created my official account on WordPress.org.
I joined the “Making WordPress” Slack channel to access the community.

I explored the translate.wordpress.org platform and found the dashboard for my country.

Challenges:
When reviewing the platform, I saw that Costa Rica’s progress bar was almost at 100% and thought there was nothing left to translate. I later discovered that the main and ongoing work is in the Plugins and Themes sections, not just in the main system
Lessons Learned:
I understood the importance of following the official “es_CR” glossary and the community’s style guidelines, since the goal isn’t to translate literally, but to maintain consistency for all users.
Reflection:
I’ve completed the account setup phase and understand the site’s structure. I’m now ready to look for a specific project and start translating.
