Context:
This final post marks the end of this journal, documenting my overall experience and learnings while contributing to the WordPress Polyglots project by localizing the Bit Flows plugin for Costa Rica (es_CR).

Summary of Contribution:
Across this project, I translated and submitted 120 strings covering technical parameters, user interface settings, and integration options. All contributions are registered in my public profile and pending community review.

What I’ve Learned

This post documents the consolidated contribution within the WordPress Polyglots ecosystem, gathering the work completed for the Bit Flows plugin as a verified submission to the Costa Rica repository (es_CR).

Context:
At this stage of the project, it’s time to take stock and evaluate the impact of the work done so far on the WordPress localization for Costa Rica (es_CR).

Procedure and Metrics:
For this review, I checked the Polyglots dashboard and my contributor profile. Currently, the overall status of my contributions is summarized as follows:

Total strings translated and submitted: 120 strings (primarily focused on the Bit Flows plugin).

Current status: Strings in the “Waiting” status (highlighted in yellow on the platform), pending review by the Project Translation Editors (PTE).

Pages processed: 8 full pages of continuous translations.

Obstacles:
The main challenge in this phase isn’t technical; it’s the wait time. The approval process isn’t immediate, and there are no automatic notifications when a chain’s status changes.

Lessons Learned:
I realized that, in the open-source world, the work doesn’t end when you submit your results. The actual workflow depends on the availability of community reviewers, so measuring progress involves managing wait times effectively and staying consistent

Reflection:
Seeing the 120 accumulated chains in a pending status is very satisfying because it demonstrates the volume of work that has been completed, although it is subject to external approval.

Context
For this contribution to WordPress Polyglots, I focused on making significant progress on the translation of the Bit Flows plugin for the Costa Rican variant (es_CR). The goal was to complete a substantial block of text strings while ensuring the quality and technical accuracy necessary for users to use the plugin intuitively.

Procedure
To tackle this batch, I processed the strings in blocks of 15 translations per page directly within the WordPress translation platform. During the session, I worked sequentially through several consecutive pages in the editor, analyzing the context of each element to maintain consistency in sentences, interface labels, and system instructions without altering the technical structure of the strings.

Technical Details
The work on these pages required special attention to several technical elements specific to the plugin and its integrations:

Code syntax and HTML tags: Structures such as were preserved to ensure that links to external panels (such as the Instasent dashboard) maintained the correct behavior and styling in the interface.

Variable and placeholder handling: Dynamic strings such as SMS #{COUNT} or references such as {COUNT} were kept intact to prevent rendering errors in the system.

International Formats and Standards: Technical standards were preserved without translation, such as the E.164 phone number format (e.g., +34666555444), country codes (ES), regional settings (en_US), and Unicode/GSM encoding for emojis and special characters.

Integration terminology and data structures: Backend development terminology—such as JSON variations, key-value pairs, event parameters, API tokens, and ID mapping—was accurately translated.

Challenges:
Translating so many strings in a row is exhausting and tedious. The main challenge was the context: seeing the terms in isolation in the list made it difficult to understand their exact function. If I tried to go too fast, the translation ended up being too literal or unnatural, so I had to slow down to review each text carefully and avoid accidentally altering the syntax or variables

Reflection:
Although the process was tedious, seeing the 120 strings completed on the platform was quite satisfying. It gives you a real sense of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into translating free software.
